Divergent Coupling of 2‐Aryl‐1,3‐Indandiones with Alkenes Enabled by Iodine Catalyst

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Herein, we report an iodine‐catalyzed protocol for cross‐coupling of 2‐aryl‐1,3‐indandiones with alkenes. Divergent reactivity was achieved in the transformation by varying additives and solvents, thus allowing selective access to tertiary alkylated ketones The present approach features commercially available starting materials, broad substrate scope, general functional‐group (including halogen, ester, nitrile, thioether) tolerance. Furthermore, proposed plausible pathways rationalize divergent selectivity through preliminary mechanism study. magnified image

Aldehyde-selective Wacker-type oxidation of unbiased alkenes enabled by a nitrite co-catalyst.

Breaking the rules: Reversal of the high Markovnikov selectivity of Wacker-type oxidations was accomplished using a nitrite co-catalyst. Unbiased aliphatic alkenes can be oxidized with high yield and aldehyde selectivity, and several functional groups are tolerated. (18) O-labeling experiments indicate that the aldehydic O atom is derived from the nitrite salt.

Thioamination of Alkenes with Hypervalent Iodine Reagents

An efficient thioamination of alkenes mediated by iodine(III) reagents is described. The use of different sulfur nucleophiles allows the flexible synthesis of 1,2-aminothiols from alkenes. By employing chiral iodine(III) reagents, a stereoselective version of the thioamination protocol has also been developed.

Aerobic palladium-catalyzed dioxygenation of alkenes enabled by catalytic nitrite.

Catalytic nitrite was found to enable carbon-oxygen bond-forming reductive elimination from unstable alkyl palladium intermediates, providing dioxygenated products from alkenes. A variety of functional groups were tolerated, and high yields (up to 94 %) were observed with many substrates, also for a multigram-scale reaction. Nitrogen dioxide, which could form from nitrite under the reaction con...

Pd-catalyzed intramolecular oxyalkynylation of alkenes with hypervalent iodine.

The first example of intramolecular oxyalkynylation of nonactivated alkenes using oxidative Pd chemistry is reported. Both phenol and aromatic or aliphatic acid derivatives could be used under operator-friendly conditions (room temperature, technical solvents, under air). The discovery of the superiority of benziodoxolone-derived hypervalent iodine reagent 3d as an alkyne transfer reagent furth...

Catalyst-controlled divergent C-H functionalization of unsymmetrical 2-aryl cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with alkynes and alkenes.

Achieving site-selective, switchable C-H functionalizations of substrates that contain several different types of reactive C-H bonds is an attractive objective to enable the generation of different products from the same starting materials. Herein, we demonstrate the divergent C-H functionalization of unsymmetrical 2-aryl cyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds that contain two distinct, nonadjacent si...
